Scout Editions: Kokeshi Mini Card
One of Scout's best-selling prints, the Japanese Kokeshi Doll.
Kokeshi are Japanese dolls originally from northern Japan. Handmade out of wood with a simple trunk and enlarged head. These dolls are thought to date back to the early 19th century when woodworkers (kijiya), who were known to be making wooden trays and bowls, then began using their woodwork skills and lathes to make simple dolls to sell as toys and souvenirs.
On the back of the card: "It is popular to collect Japanese Kojeshi dolls, as they are considered as lucky charms"
Size: 80mm x 104mm
Comes with a brown kraft envelope.
Each mini card was printed on quality FSC certified paper in London, on the risograph using soy based inks.
Riso printing is an energy efficient print process. Similar to screen printing process, artwork is burnt onto a master and the master it is then fed through a print drum layer by layer. Please note that each print will vary very slightly, making each one one-off and unique. Offsetting may occur, the imperfections we think add extra charm.
